Professor Dae Wook Kim's research lab focuses on circadian biology and chronotherapeutics, exploring the molecular mechanisms of the circadian clock and its translational applications in medicine. The lab investigates transcriptional feedback loops, particularly the roles of RRE and E-box elements in circadian regulation, and examines how disruptions in these pathways affect physiological rhythms and disease susceptibility. A key focus is on developing personalized chronotherapy strategies using wearable technology to track circadian and ultradian rhythms for optimized drug timing in cancer and chronic diseases. The lab also employs systems pharmacology and preclinical models to understand how circadian phase responses vary across species, especially in diurnal primates and humans compared to nocturnal rodents.

Tribulus terrestris fruits are well known for their usage in pharmaceutical preparations and food supplements. The methanol extract of T. terrestris fruits showed potent inhibition against the papain-like protease (PLpro), an essential proteolylic enzyme for protection to pathogenic virus and bacteria. Subsequent bioactivity-guided fractionation of this extract led to six cinnamic amides (1-6) and ferulic acid (7). Compound 6 emerged as new compound possessing the very rare carbinolamide motif.
