Professor Dong Bum Suh's research lab focuses on clinical and epidemiological investigations in emergency medicine and dermatology, with a particular emphasis on the impact of lifestyle factors—such as diet and fatty acid intake—on inflammatory skin conditions like acne vulgaris. The lab also conducts population-based studies on pediatric health, emergency department utilization, and injury patterns related to emerging technologies like electric personal mobility devices. A striking decrease in pediatric ED visits was observed during the COVID-19 outbreak, the scale which was associated with the stringency of government policies. Changes in the number and characteristics of children visiting the ED should be considered to facilitate the effective operation of EDs during the pandemic.
