Professor Dong Kyung Jang's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying colorectal cancer, with a particular emphasis on DNA mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency, microsatellite instability (MSI), and Lynch syndrome-related carcinogenesis. The lab investigates the molecular and clinical implications of MMR gene mutations and epigenetic alterations in colorectal tumorigenesis, including the identification of Lynch-like syndrome in patients without germline mutations. Additionally, the lab explores the impact of chronic inflammatory conditions, such as ulcerative colitis, on colorectal cancer risk and progression, integrating molecular pathology with population-based epidemiology. Their work also extends to evaluating gastroprotective strategies in NSAID users, highlighting translational research in gastrointestinal oncology and patient safety.
