Professor Dong-Wan Kang's research lab specializes in biomedical imaging and neurovascular interventions, with a focus on advanced MRI techniques for stroke diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The lab investigates the role of susceptibility-weighted imaging in assessing acute ischemic stroke and explores novel nanotherapeutics, such as ceria nanoparticles, for treating intracerebral hemorrhage. Additionally, the lab is engaged in the development of bioengineered materials, including carbon nanotube-polymer composites, for peripheral nerve regeneration and in the application of high-resolution vessel wall imaging to differentiate intracranial arterial disease etiologies. The integration of medical imaging, nanomedicine, and regenerative biomaterials defines the lab’s translational research approach.

In our study, lateral flare of upper lid retraction and flat appearance of lower lid retraction were distinct characteristics in patients with TED. In comprising the lacrimal sac fossa, the maxillary bone accounted for a bigger proportion than the lacrimal bone. Male maxillary bone thickness was greater than female thickness. The authors also observed that maxillary bone thickness increased toward the upper areas of the lacrimal sac fossa and with increasing subject age. Understanding the form and variation of a normal lacrimal sac fossa is helpful for preparing for a successful osteotomy with endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy.
