Professor Dong-Hoe Koo's research lab specializes in gastrointestinal oncology, with a focus on rare and aggressive gastrointestinal malignancies such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), small bowel adenocarcinoma, and gastric cancer metastasis. The lab investigates prognostic factors, treatment responses, and biomarkers—particularly serum PGRN—in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and advanced gastrointestinal cancers. Utilizing large-scale population-based cohort data and retrospective clinical analyses, the lab emphasizes personalized and multidisciplinary approaches to improve survival outcomes in Asian patient populations.

METHODS: Data from 52 patients with SBA who underwent curative surgery at the Asan Medical Center between January 1989 and December 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.
