Professor Doo-Yeol Yoo's research lab specializes in advanced construction materials, with a focus on ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced cement composites (UHP-FRCC) and steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC). The lab investigates mechanical performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness of these materials under various loading conditions, including flexure, impact, and high-temperature exposure. A key research direction involves leveraging data-driven modeling and machine learning to predict material properties efficiently. Additionally, the lab explores the functional integration of nanomaterials—particularly carbon-based nanomaterials—into cementitious matrices to enhance electrical self-sensing capabilities.

15This study investigated the feasibility of reducing fiber content in ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced cement composites (UHP-FRCC). For this, three different types of steel fibers were considered, and three different aspect ratios were applied for the case of straight fibers. To quantitatively evaluate the cost effectiveness of reducing the fiber content of UHP-FRCC, cost analysis was also performed.
