Professor Du-Young Jeong's research lab specializes in advanced energy conversion systems and materials surface science, with a strong focus on power electronics, semiconductor surface chemistry, and underwater acoustic modeling. The lab develops innovative power inverters for industrial heating applications, investigates molecular adsorption and surface reactions on semiconductors using advanced characterization techniques, and designs high-fidelity sound propagation algorithms for sonar simulation tailored to complex ocean environments. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge materials science, electronic systems, and ocean acoustics to address real-world engineering challenges in energy efficiency, structural integrity, and underwater sensing.

A novel dual half bridge series resonant inverter (DHB-SRI) for an induction heating appliance with two loads is proposed to improve the power utilisation capability by virtue of high-speed load changes. The circuit can remove acoustic noise caused by the difference between the operating frequencies of adjacent loads, and enables independent full power range control of two induction heating elements.

Study of Adsorption and Decomposition of H2O on Ge(100)

The adsorption and decomposition of water on Ge(100) have been investigated using real-time scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and density-functional theory (DFT) calculations. The STM results revealed two distinct adsorption features of H2O on Ge(100) corresponding to molecular adsorption and H-OH dissociative adsorption. In the molecular adsorption geometry, H2O molecules are bound to the surface via Ge-O dative bonds between the O atom of H2O and the electrophilic down atom of the Ge dimer.

The adsorption and decomposition of AlCl 3 on Ge(100) was studied using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and high-resolution core-level photoemission spectroscopy (HRCLPES). 소나 시뮬레이터에 적용되는 음파 전달 알고리즘은 빠른 계산 성능이 요구되며, 한국 해양 환경의 특성을 고려하여 거리와 깊이 방향의 환경 의존성을 구현할 수 있어야 한다. 이러한 요구사항을 충족하는 음파 전달 알고리즘은 음선 모델이며, 본 논문에서는 거리 종속 해양환경의 음선 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 본 알고리즘에서는 사각 격자법과 층법으로 음선을 추적하여 음속 구조의 깊이 방향 의존성을 고려하였으며, 거리 방향은 split-step 개념을 적용하여 음속구조의 거리 방향 의존성을 구현하였다. 고유음선은 음선 묶음의 보간법을 통해 계산되었으며, 가우시안 보간 함수가 적용되었다. 소나의 시계열 수신 신호는 음원 신호와 고유 음선 주파수 해의 푸리에 변환을 이용하여 모의되었다. 최종적으로 제안된 음파 알고리즘을 검증하기 위해 Pekeris 도파관, 쐐기, 심해의 환경에서 전달손실 결과를 BELLHOP, SNUPE, KRAKEN, OASES 등 검증된 모델의 결과와 비교하였으며, 결과적으로 만

콘크리트 충전형 합성강관(Concrete Filled steel Tube, CFT)는 우수한 연성과 강도를 발휘하며 건축물의 기둥 및 해양구조물의 교각 등에 적용되고 있다. 현존하는 CFT 전단 설계식은 지나치게 보수적이며 이는 CFT의 경제성과 시공성에 영향을 미친다. 그러나 합리적인 전단 설계식 제안을 위한 실험 연구는 거의 존재하지 않는다. 이 연구는 원형 콘크리트 충전 강관의 개선된 전단 설계식을 제안하기 위한 해석적 연구이다. 선행 연구에서 제시한 원형 CFT 해석 모델을 참고하여 해석 연구를 수행하였으며 해석 모델은 기존 실험 연구 결과를 이용하여 검증하였다. 검증된 모델을 이용하여 변수 연구를 수행하였으며 전단성능에 끝단길이, 콘크리트의 압축강도, 직경두께비가 미치는 영향을 평가하였다.
