Professor Dukhwan Choi's research lab specializes in clinical anesthesiology and perioperative medicine, with a primary focus on optimizing postoperative outcomes through advanced pain management and prophylaxis of common complications such as postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and hypotension during spinal anesthesia. The lab investigates the efficacy of multimodal analgesia, regional anesthesia techniques like femoral nerve blocks and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, and risk-stratified antiemetic strategies in surgical patients. Additionally, the lab explores the biological mechanisms underlying tumor progression, particularly the role of hypoxia and HIF-1α in centrosome amplification in cancer. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge clinical anesthesiology with molecular oncology to improve patient safety and recovery.

We report a patient with a postpartum headache, who was later diagnosed with an intra cerebral hemorrhage. She underwent a cesarean section under the combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, and complained of a suspicious post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) in the puerperium.
