Professor Eo Jin Kim's research lab focuses on translational and clinical research in oncology and musculoskeletal biomechanics. The lab investigates treatment efficacy and biomarkers in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly exploring novel immunotherapeutic strategies such as NK cell combination therapy. In addition, the lab conducts detailed biomechanical analyses of foot motion using 3D motion capture and modeling, especially in conditions like hallux valgus and related deformities. The lab also explores the pathological mechanisms of vascular diseases such as Buerger’s disease, with a focus on histopathological and immunohistochemical characterization of arterial changes.

Arcanobacterium haemolyticum was isolated from the blood cultures of a previously healthy 37-year-old man who met all the criteria of Lemierre syndrome, including a primary oropharyngeal infection, evidence of thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein, and metastatic infections. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of Lemierre syndrome caused by A. haemolyticum in Korea and shows that A. haemolyticum alone can cause Lemierre syndrome.
