Professor Eui-june Kim's research lab specializes in regional and urban economics, with a focus on the interplay between infrastructure investment, spatial economic integration, and regional development. The lab investigates the dynamic effects of transportation and public service projects—such as highways and urban water markets—on economic growth, income distribution, and regional disparities. Using advanced econometric and computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, the lab analyzes how policies in education, R&D, and creative industries influence regional innovation and employment. The research emphasizes policy-relevant insights for sustainable and equitable regional development in Korea and comparative contexts.

This research attempts to analyze economic effects of spatial integration of urban water service markets in Korea, employing the notion of economies of scale in terms of cost‐effectiveness. This paper is concerned with an analysis of causality between creative industries and urban employment growth. A test of Moran's I finds that there are spatial concentrations of the creative industries in Seoul and major cities in Gyeonggi Province.
