Professor Eul-Sik Yoon's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, with a focus on stem cell therapy and biomaterials for bone and soft tissue regeneration. The lab investigates the therapeutic potential of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and stromal vascular fraction (SVF) in critical-sized bone defects, utilizing biodegradable scaffolds such as PLGA and demineralized bone matrix. Additionally, the lab explores advanced imaging techniques—particularly high-resolution ultrasonography—for diagnosing and monitoring peripheral nerve disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome, and applies these insights to improve surgical outcomes. The integration of cell-based therapies with innovative biomaterials and clinical imaging underscores the lab’s translational approach to aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

Several investigators have reported their clinical experience with medial pedis flaps for reconstruction of soft tissue defects of the hand and digits.
