Professor Eun Joo Kim's research lab focuses on the intersection of microbiology, metabolomics, and translational health sciences, with a strong emphasis on understanding the gut microbiota-metabolite interactions in metabolic diseases such as obesity. The lab employs multi-omics approaches—including 16S rRNA sequencing and GC-MS metabolomics—to dissect microbial and metabolic changes induced by dietary and environmental factors. A key research direction involves evaluating the therapeutic potential of functional microbes, such as those from kimchi, in modulating host metabolism and gut health. The lab also applies machine learning techniques to biomedical text mining, enhancing the accuracy of named entity recognition in electronic medical records for improved disease surveillance and clinical data analysis.

The purpose of this study was to establish reference ophthalmic findings in the common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus). Twenty healthy adult kestrels were included in this study.
