Behavioral and neural evidence on consumer responses to human doctors and medical artificial intelligence
Jin Ho Yun, Eun‐Ju Lee, Dong Hyun Kim
SJR Q1Psychology and Marketing

Abstract Will consumers accept artificial intelligence (AI) as a medical care provider? On the basis of evolution theory, we investigate the implicit psychological mechanisms that underlie consumers’ interactions with medical AI and a human doctor. In a behavioral investigation (Study 1), consumers expressed a positive intention to use medical AI's healthcare services when it used personalized rather than mechanical conversation. However, neural investigation (Study 2) using functional magnetic

Consumers' responses to personalized service from medical artificial intelligence and human doctors

SJR Q1Psychology and MarketingOA

Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming healthcare, yet little is known about how consumers experience medical AI and make decisions about using these providers for follow‐up care. We take an interdisciplinary approach that combines behavioral and neuroimaging experiments to determine how anthropomorphism and personalization influence consumers' well‐being and their decisions about a provider for follow‐up care. Study 1 finds that, regardless of the type of medical provider used, c

Proposing and testing the contextual gender influence theory: An examination of gender influence types on trust of computer agents
Eun‐Ju Lee, David W. Schumann
SJR Q1Journal of Consumer Psychology

Abstract The purpose of this research is to examine gender‐based determinants of consumer trust towards computer agents. Employing multiple literatures, we propose a contextual gender influence theory (CGIT) which has direct bearing on trust in online exchange relationships. A set of studies is presented that begin to demonstrate how the effects of gender identity on human‐to‐computer interaction are not the same for person‐to‐person interaction. Indeed, employing both gaming and shopping exchan

Two Cases with Cerebral Infarction in the Left Middle Frontal Lobe Presented as Gerstmann's Syndrome
Eun‐Ju Lee, Hyeyoung Shin, Young Noh
Journal of Neurological Disorders

Gerstmann's syndrome is a neuropsychological disorder characterized by four symptoms, namely, acalculia, finger agnosia, left-right disorientation, and agraphia suggesting the presence of a lesion in the inferior parietal lobule of the dominant hemisphere, especially at the angular gyrus. Several descriptions of Gerstmann's syndrome have been reported in associated with a lesion to the left frontal lobe, but none of these reports fulfilled the full tetrad of diagnostic criteria. Herein, we repor

Exposure to loneliness cues reduces prosocial behavior: Evidence from N400 and P300
Meiling Yin, Eun‐Ju Lee
SJR Q2Frontiers in PsychologyOA

Loneliness is a major risk factor for morbidity and mortality. However, the effect of loneliness on subsequent prosocial behavior is not well known. Understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying loneliness is necessary to address this research gap. We investigate the mechanism using a modified public goods game (PGG) wherein participants can choose to act for a collective or selfish interest after being exposed to loneliness cues. Both behavioral (Study 1) and event-related potential (

Can Climate Change Awaken Ecological Consciousness? A Neuroethical Approach to Green Consumption
Meiling Yin, Hanna Choi, Eun‐Ju Lee
SJR Q1SustainabilityOA

Climate change is a major threat to humanity and endangers our way of life. If a critical mass of consumers can consider the consequences of the daily consumption choices they make, we could hope for a better future. From a neuroethical viewpoint, we examined how a consumer’s ecological consciousness can be awakened, leading to eco-friendly consumption. This study used the neuroscientific method of event-related potentials (ERP) to explore the neural mechanisms underlying climate change. Both fr
