Professor Eun-sun Yoo's research lab focuses on vascular biology and glycobiology, with a strong emphasis on endothelial cell differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells and the role of glycans in viral pathogenesis. The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying angiogenesis, particularly the functions of growth factors like VEGF and signaling molecules such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) in endothelial progenitor cell differentiation and neovascularization. A key area of expertise involves the structural analysis of sialylated oligosaccharides and their biological significance, especially in viral entry mechanisms involving sialic acid linkages (α2-3 and α2-6). The lab also explores clinical implications of neutropenia and hematopoietic microenvironment regulation, bridging basic science with translational applications in regenerative medicine and infectious disease.
