Professor Eunbi Lee's research lab focuses on advancing biomedical and materials science through innovative solutions for health and technology challenges. The lab investigates physical activity interventions for individuals with neurodevelopmental and motor disabilities, aiming to improve functional outcomes and quality of life. It also specializes in developing high-performance composite materials—particularly carbon fiber-reinforced polymers and carbon nanotube-reinforced adhesives—engineered for enhanced thermal and mechanical properties in aerospace, automotive, and display technologies. Additionally, the lab explores regenerative medicine applications, including 3D-cultured mesenchymal stem cells for immunomodulatory therapies.

15AIM: To summarize current evidence on the effects and reach of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) interventions among children and adults with cerebral palsy (CP). METHOD: Systematic searches were conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, and Google Scholar to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of LTPA interventions in CP. Data from eligible studies were extracted for qualitative synthesis. RESULTS: Forty-nine studies enrolled a total of 1513 participants (mean [SD] age 13y [7y], range 5-43y; 81
This scoping review synthesized reviews of physical activity (PA) interventions for children and youth with disabilities to highlight promising elements of effective interventions, research methodological limitations, and research priorities. Twenty studies were eligible and underwent three rounds of review by an expert panel. Rich and diverse PA programs derived potential short-term benefits toward health, function, and PA. Strategies to increase sample sizes included embedding programs in the
A carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) is a light and rigid composite applicable in various fields, such as in aviation and automobile industry. However, due to its low thermal conductivity, it does not dissipate heat sufficiently and thus accumulates heat stress. Here, we reported a facile and effective strategy to improve the through-thickness thermal conductivity of CFRP composites by using a layer-by-layer coating of inorganic crystals. They could provide efficient heat transfer pathways t
BACKGROUND: Chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) are synthetic receptors that reprogram the target specificity and functions of CAR-expressing effector cells. The design of CAR constructs typically includes an extracellular antigen-binding moiety, hinge (H), transmembrane (TM), and intracellular signaling domains. Conventional CAR constructs are primarily designed for T cells but have been directly adopted for other effector cells, including natural killer (NK) cells, without tailored optimization.
There is strong demand for narrow-bezel liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in the display industry. Adhesive materials for narrow-bezel LCDs require excellent adhesive properties in order to provide the same level of adhesive strength as conventional sealants, even when applied in small amounts. In this study, we prepared a previously unknown, highly adhesive, carbon nanotube-reinforced (CNT-reinforced) UV/heat dual-curable adhesive for narrow-bezel LCDs. Single-walled and multi-walled CNTs (SWCNTs
Introduction Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been introduced as a treatment for dogs owing to their immunomodulatory effects. In humans, 3D-cultured MSCs have recently been applied in treating various conditions, including myocardial infarction, liver disease, and kidney disease. This study aimed to evaluate whether the immunomodulatory effects of canine adipose tissue-derived MSCs (cAT-MSCs) are enhanced when cultured in a 3D environment compared to conventional 2D culture. Methods cAT-MSC s
Abstract: Song Yang, an Asian migrant massage/sex worker in Flushing, New York, fell to her death from a fourth-floor building when police raided her massage spa in 2017, and in 2021 six Asian migrant massage/sex workers were killed in the Atlanta spa shootings by a white supremacist. Their deaths have led Asian American and migrant sex workers and allies to create in-person and online vigils where they transform grief and pain into love and care for sex workers, and challenge racial and sexual
The light field system is a promising technology for future 3D display. However, most light field system utilizes imaging optics, so if there is a view shift from the center axis, view distortion is inevitable. To overcome this issue, we propose an inverse mapping method with biharmonic spline interpolation for each view. The experimental result verified that the proposed method alleviated view distortion for a multi-view display system.
A graphene-nanoplatelet-reinforced (GNP-reinforced) UV/heat dual-curable sealant for narrow bezel displays was fabricated for seamless-design display applications. GNPs with good thermal conductivities and mechanical properties were introduced into the sealant as the organic filler to improve its adhesive strength. As the GNPs collectively act as a barrier against moisture in the sealant, the moisture permeability of the best-performing GNP-reinforced sealant was lower than that of the conventio
RNA processing is an essential post-transcriptional phenomenon that provides the necessary complexity of transcript diversity prior to translation. Aberrations in this process could contribute to tumourigenesis, and we have previously reported increased splicing alterations in giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB), which carries mutations in the histone variant H3.3 encoding glycine 34 substituted for tryptophan (H3.3-G34W). G34W interacts with several splicing factors, most notably the trans-acting s
Protozooplankton regulate microbial food webs through top-down control and nutrient cycling, yet their grazing impacst under ocean warming, particularly in subsurface chlorophyll maximum (SCM) layers, remain poorly understood. This study investigated spatial and seasonal variability in protozooplankton grazing in the northern East China Sea, influenced by Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) intrusion and stratification. Thirty in situ dilution experiments were conducted in surface and SCM layers to quan
