Professor Gwang-jun Lee's research lab focuses on antimicrobial resistance, particularly the molecular epidemiology and mechanisms of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae such as NDM and KPC in South Korea. The lab also investigates circadian rhythm regulation through behavioral interventions like exercise and explores novel diagnostic biomarkers for difficult-to-culture pathogens such as *Chlamydophila pneumoniae*. Additionally, the lab examines the genetic basis of vancomycin resistance in *Staphylococcus aureus* and develops biologically plausible computational models of brain function using spiking neural networks for predictive coding. These diverse research directions reflect a strong emphasis on translational microbiology, infectious disease epidemiology, and computational neuroscience.

15This study was carried out to investigate the epidemiological time-course of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase- (NDM-) mediated carbapenem resistance in Enterobacteriaceae in South Korea.
