Professor Gwang-sik Min's research lab specializes in environmental toxicology and plant physiology, focusing on the biological impacts of environmental pollutants and the adaptation of medicinal plants under controlled environmental conditions. The lab investigates biomarker responses in marine organisms, such as the Pacific oyster, to assess toxicity of contaminants like polychlorinated biphenyls, with an emphasis on cellular immune responses and oxidative stress indicators. Additionally, the lab explores the growth performance and physiological responses of medicinal plants under varying light conditions, particularly in urban rooftop environments, to support sustainable urban agriculture and phytoremediation strategies. The research integrates ecotoxicological assessments with plant biotechnology for environmental and health applications.

5Two cellular biomarker parameters of the farmed Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas were studied in vivo and in vitro after exposure to concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls in terms of neural red uptake (NRU) and lysozyme activity.
