研究室紹介
Professor Gyeong-Chul Moon's research lab focuses on regenerative medicine and translational biomedicine, with a strong emphasis on stem cell therapies for chronic wounds and microcirculatory disorders, particularly in diabetic patients. The lab investigates the clinical application of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) and stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells to enhance tissue repair and perfusion in ischemic conditions. Additionally, the lab explores molecular mechanisms in rare and aggressive cancers, such as extrapulmonary neuroendocrine carcinomas and primary renal neuroendocrine tumors, using immunohistochemical and molecular profiling approaches. These diverse research directions converge on improving patient outcomes through innovative cellular therapies and precision oncology.

15Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may hold great promise for treating diabetic wounds. However, it is difficult for a clinician to use MSCs because they have not been commercialized. Meanwhile, a new commercial drug that contains adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) has been developed. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential of allogeneic ASC sheets for treating diabetic foot ulcers. Fifty-nine patients with diabetic foot ulcers were randomized to either the ASC treatment group (n = 30)
The degradation of n-type and p-type low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) thin-film transistors (TFTs) due to hot-carrier stress was investigated by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement. In C-V measurements, the fixed charges in the gate oxide of TFTs are not affected by a small-applied signal, whereas the trap states in the bandgap respond to the applied frequency, so that the dominant degradation mechanism of poly-Si TFTs can be evaluated. The capacitance (C/sub GS/) between the
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: studies. However, no clinical studies have reported its effect in diabetic patients who commonly experience compromised tissue perfusion, regardless of the status of intravascular blood flow. The present piloting study was designed to clinically examine the possibility of SVF cell injection to accelerate microcirculation, particularly in ischemic diabetic feet. METHODS: week visit. RESULTS: values increased from 31.3±7.4 before injection to 46.4±8.2 mmHg at 12 weeks af
BACKGROUND: Primary renal well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (WDNETs) also called carcinoid and atypical carcinoid are extremely rare, and little is known about parameters that may predict prognosis at diagnosis. METHODS: Six cases of primary renal WDNET were collected. After reviewing slides stained with hematoxylin and eosin, proportions of each growth pattern were determined. Synaptophysin, chromogranin, CD56, and Ki-67 immunostaining and Ki-67 morphometric analysis were performed. RES
Extrapulmonary neuroendocrine carcinomas (EP-NECs) are associated with a poor clinical outcome, and limited information is available on the biology and treatment of EP-NECs. We studied EP-NECs by applying the recent novel findings from studies of pulmonary neuroendocrine carcinomas, including POU2F3, the master regulator of tuft cell variant of small cell lung carcinomas. A cohort of 190 patients with surgically resected EP-NECs or poorly differentiated carcinomas (PDCs) were established. Immuno
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors for major amputation in patients hospitalized with diabetic foot ulcers involving the hindfoot. Approach: Between January 2003 and October 2017, a total of 1,657 diabetic patients were admitted to the diabetic wound center of Korea University Guro Hospital, for the management of foot ulcers. Among the admitted patients, 117 diabetic patients with hindfoot ulcers were included in this study. One hundred and four patients (89
BACKGROUND: Buried non-incisional double-eyelid blepharoplasty is a popular aesthetic procedure. Although various modified continuous suture techniques have been used to create a more natural appearance and to reduce downtime, complications such as loosening of the double fold, asymmetry, and foreign body reactions have been observed. METHODS: This study included 250 patients who underwent double-eyelid blepharoplasty between March 1997 and November 2012 using a modified single-knot continuous b
Aging is a biologic process characterized by time-dependent functional declines that are influenced by oxidative stress-induced inflammatory reactions. In particular, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation plays a key role in cellular senescence in photo-aged skin. However, the cellular senescence of epidermal keratinocytes and dermal fibroblasts by UV irradiation may differ depending on the exposure time and dosage of UV irradiation. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to evaluate and compare the eff
BACKGROUND: Identification and understanding of predictors for complications and aesthetic outcomes in free muscle-sparing transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (MS-TRAM) flap are essential for successful breast reconstruction. The purpose of this study was to investigate predictors for complications and aesthetic outcomes in patients who underwent autologous breast reconstruction with free MS-TRAM flaps. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Between March 2003 and September 2017, a total of 214 patients who
BACKGROUND: Surgical-site infection following complicated septorhinoplasty may result in serious complications. Therefore, efforts to prevent surgical-site infections after complicated septorhinoplasty are important. The purpose of this study was to analyze the microbiological profile of preoperative nasal swab cultures and to evaluate the effect of antibiotic prophylaxis and topical antibiotic decolonization according to the antibiotic sensitivity results of surgical-site infections in complica
