Professor Haeun Kim's research lab specializes in biomedical and clinical research, focusing on glycoprotein biochemistry, oncology, and critical care medicine. The lab investigates the structural biology of mucin glycosylation—particularly bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM)—to understand its role in viscoelastic properties and polymerization. It also explores prognostic factors in cancer, such as perineural invasion in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and develops innovative interventions in pediatric critical care, including percutaneous left atrial decompression during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Additionally, the lab examines clinical strategies in organ transplantation and patient outcomes, particularly in high-risk settings.

BACKGROUND: Although perineural invasion is a well known prognostic factor used in several cancers, its prognostic role in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma remains controversial. Here, we investigated the prognostic role of perineural invasion in surgically treated esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 316 patients who underwent esophagectomy and lymph node dissection for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma between 2007 and 2016. RESULTS
Patients with venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) frequently suffer from pulmonary edema due to left ventricular dysfunction that accompanies left heart dilatation, which is caused by left atrial hypertension. The problem can be resolved by left atrium (LA) decompression. We performed a successful percutaneous LA decompression with an atrial septostomy and placement of an LA venting cannula in a 38-month-old child treated with venoarterial ECMO for acute myocarditis.

본 연구는 방울양배추를 80% 에탄올 추출물과 에탄올, 물 추출물을 통한 항산화 활성을 평가하고 이를 첨가한 돈육패티의 이화학적 특성 및 항산화 활성을 평가하기 위해 실시되었다. 방울양배추의 세 가지 추출물의 총 페놀성 화합물 함량은 물과 80% 에탄올 추출물이 각각 2.86 g/100 g, 3.23 g/100 g으로 두 추출물 모두 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았으나 에탄올 추출물 1.35 g/100 g보다 유의적으로 높았다(P<0.05). DPPH 라디칼 소거능에서는 0.1%에서 방울양배추 80% 에탄올 추출물이 대조구 다음으로 높은 소거능을 보였다. 0.25% 이상부터는 방울양배추 에탄올 추출물이 대조구 다음으로 높은 소거능을 보였다(P<0.05). 철 이온 흡착력은 0.5%의 농도까지는 방울양배추의 물 추출물과 80% 에탄올 추출물이 대조구인 EDTA 다음으로 높은 흡착력을 보였다. 1%에서는 이 두 처리구와 대조구에서 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았다(P>0.05). 환원력은 대조구인
목적 : 본 연구는 자발화에서 보조사의 사용 빈도와 유형수를 측정하여 영유아기 보조사 사용 양상을 살펴보고자 하였다.BR방법 : 총 60명의 영유아(2세 후반, 3세 후반, 4세 후반의 세 연령집단별 각 20명씩)가 발화표본 수집에 참여하였다. 연구자와 책과 그림을 보며 대화하는 상황에서 아동 별로 50개 발화를 수집하여 H-SAK 프로그램을 사용해 형태소 단위로 분석하였고, 보조사의 사용은 보조사 전체 사용 빈도와 전체 유형수, 보조사 하위기능별 사용 빈도 및 유형수를 측정하였다. 이에 더해 보조사 하위유형별 사용 비율을 측정하였다.BR결과 : 전반적인 보조사 사용 빈도와 전체 유형수는 연령이 높아짐에 따라 유의미한 증가 양상을 보였다. 하위기능별 보조사 사용 빈도는 ‘주제, 한정, 첨가, 선택, 높임’에서 연령집단에 따른 유의한 차이를 보였고, 하위 기능별 보조사 유형수는 ‘대조, 한정, 선택, 높임’ 보조사에서 연령집단 간 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 모든 연령집단에서 ‘주제, 첨
