Professor Haeun Moon's research lab specializes in higher education policy, with a primary focus on the socioeconomic impacts of student financial aid, particularly student loans. The lab investigates how tuition and living expense loans affect educational outcomes such as graduation duration, employment status, and wage earnings, using large-scale survey data and advanced econometric methods. A key research direction involves analyzing selection bias and policy effectiveness in student loan programs to inform equitable and efficient higher education financing systems.

1대학교육에서 등록금뿐만 아니라 생활비는 학업에 전념해야 할 대학생들에게 상당한 경제적 부담으로 작용하고 있다. 최근 생활비 대출의 수요는 2010년 3,178억 원에서 2016년 6,106억 원으로 두 배 가까이 급증하였다. 본 연구는 생활비 대출의 고유 효과를 분석하기 위하여 4년제 일반대학 등록금 대출자의 생활비 추가 대출이 졸업소요기간과 취업성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 이에 더하여 등록금 대출과 생활비 대출 제도의 효과적 운영을 위한 정책적 제언을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국고용정보원에서 제공하는 대졸자직업이동경로조사(GOMS)의 2014년도 자료를 활용하였으며, 종속변수는 졸업소요기간과 취업여부 및 정규직 여부, 시간당 임금의 네 가지로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 보다 엄밀한 추정을 위하여 표본선택편의(Selection bias)를 고려한 경향점수매칭(Propensity score matching)을 활용하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 등록금 대출자
