研究室紹介

Professor Hai Won Lee's research lab specializes in advanced materials synthesis and characterization, with a focus on nanomaterials for functional applications. Key research directions include the development of nanostructured oxides—particularly ceria (CeO₂) for chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) applications—and the design of conductive polymers via vapor-phase deposition techniques. The lab also investigates optical characterization methods, such as rotating compensator multichannel spectroscopic ellipsometry, to study the optical functions of functional liquids and thin films. Additionally, the lab contributes to materials science through the continuous synthesis of high-purity carbon nanotubes and the engineering of antibody immobilization strategies for enhanced immunoassay performance.

Site-directed Immobilization of Antibody onto Solid Surfaces for the Construction of Immunochip
조일훈, 최정우, 백세환, 백의환, 이해원

The performance of an immuno-analytical system can be assessed in terms of its analytical sensitivity, i.e., the detection limit of an analyte, which is determined by the amount of analyte molecules bound to the capture antibody that has been immobilized onto a solid surface. To increase the number of the binding complexes, we have investigated a site-directed immobilization of an antibody that has the ability to resolve a current problem associated with a random arrangement of the insolubilized

Determination of the Optical Functions of Various Liquids by Rotating Compensator Multichannel Spectroscopic Ellipsometry
이해원, 이승현, 오혜근, 안일신, Kyung Yoon Bang

Rotating compensator multichannel spectroscopic ellipsometry has been employed to determine the optical functions of various liquids used in chemistry. We attempted three different measurement configurations: (1) air-liquid interface, (2) prism-liquid interface, and (3) liquid-sample interface. In prism-liquid interface, we found that the prism surface had roughness and it should be considered in analysis for accurate results. In liquid-sample interface, we had much higher reflection, better sen

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Nano-Sized CeO2 and its Application for CMP Slurry
Geon Lim, Jong-Ho Lee, Joo Sun Kim, Hai Won Lee, Sang Hoon Hyun
SJR Q4Materials science forumOA

Nano-crystalline CeO2 was synthesized by the mechanical milling and subsequent heat-treatment from the mixture of Ce(OH)4 as precursor, and NaCl as diluent. The diluent provided diffusion barrier during milling and heat-treatment, which was easily dissolved out by deionized water. The size of crystallite and the strain variance of CeO2 were depended on the temperature and heat-treatment time: increased with the temperature (400~700oC) and time (1~24 hours) increasing, and saturated near at 20nm

Selective Vapor-Phase Deposition of Conductive Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Thin Films on Patterned FeCl3 Formed by Microcontact Printing
Bo H. Lee, Yeon H. Cho, 신현정, 김진열, 이재갑, 이해원, 성명모

We demonstrate a selective vapor-phase deposition of conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) thin films on patterned FeCl3. The PEDOT thin films were grown on various substrates by using the vapor-phase polymerization of ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) with FeCl3 catalytic layers at 325 K. The selective deposition of the PEDOT thin films using vapor-phase polymerization was accomplished with patterned FeCl3 layers as templates. Microcontact printing was done to prepare patterned FeCl3

Continuous mass production system of carbon nanotubes synthesis and processing
Dae-Sup So, Heon Ham, 최봉근, 심광보, 김우식, 방신영, 이해원

High purity multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized by a continuous mass production apparatus using a catalyst vapor deposition method. The continuous mass production apparatus consisted of a moving heater and a gas decomposer, and this continuous mass production apparatus of carbon nanotubes shows the possibility of industrial scale production of carbon nanotubes. The MWNTs have lengths of several micrometres and diameters in the range of 20 to 60 nm with over 90% purity, a straigh

Synthesis of novel polymers containing photoacid generator and its application in atomic force microscope lithography
권기진, Eujean Jang, Gwangmin Kwon, 이해원

A photoacid generator (PAG) played an important role in withdrawing an electron in atomic force microcopy (AFM) anodization lithography. In case of the silicon substrate coated by the polymer with higher content of PAG, oxide patterns were fabricated in lower threshold lithographic bias. And the oxide patterns were grown bigger on the PAG polymer coated silicon than on bare silicon. These results indicate that PAG contributes to accept electrons sufficient to grow oxide patterns. The organic res

Vertically Aligned Growth of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes on an Fe-Mo/MgO/Si Substrate Prepared by Using a Dipping Method Combined with an UV-Ozone Treatment
이해원, Tae Jae Lee, 서정은

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) having high density were synthesized on both Fe-Mo/Si and Fe-Mo/MgO/Si substrates by using thermal decomposition of C2H2 at 800 ℃. By applying an ultraviolet-irradiated-ozone (UV-ozone) treatment to the substrate, high-density catalyst nanoparticles could be attached to not only a Si substrate but also a MgO/Si substrate by using a dipping method. The vertically aligned SWCNTs were successfully synthesized on a MgO/Si substrate after NH3 pretreatment. Scan

SJR Q4Diffusion and defect data, solid state data. Part B, Solid state phenomena/Solid state phenomena

We report on the distribution of mixed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) composed of biotinylated and diluent alkylthiolates for streptavidin immobilization. Two thiol derivatives, 11-mercapto-1-undecanol (MUOH) and 11-mercaptoundecanoic-(8-biotinylamido-3,6-dioxaoctyl) amide (MBDA), were employed for mixed SAM. These thiols formed self-assembled monolayer without local domain, and streptavidins were immobilized onto biotinylated gold surface without nonspecific binding. In order to find the opti

김성경, J. Zhang, M. Lee, H.Y. Choi, 이해원

An eective 3-D nanostructure for nano-sized devices was designed using single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as a main frameof the structure. The NH2 modied polystyrene (PS) nanosphere with an average diameter of 100 nm could form SWNT-PS nanospherecomposite and selective attachment to SWNT distributed on gold template by covalent combination, which were accomplished by using.

Hierarchical Gold Micro-nanostructures based on Three-dimensional Networks of Carbon Nanotubes Fabricated by Using Electrochemical Deposition
Moon-Keun Lee, Seok Jin Cho, Youngdeok Jo, 이해원, 박태정

Three dimensional hierarchical gold electrodes were fabricated using suspended 3D networks of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on Si pillar templates by electrochemical deposition (ECD) in KAu(CN)2 solution. Pt-coated networks of CNTs played an important role to provide the electrical paths for ECD through discontinuous Pt layer, resulting in vertically uniform deposition of gold on micropillars as well as 3D networks of CNTs which were connecting with adjacent micropillars. Anodic Oxidation Lithography via Atomic Force Microscope on Organic Resist Layers
김성경, 이해원
http://www.cheric.org/article/540571

Atomic force microscope (AFM)-based anodic oxidation lithography has gained great in¬terests in fabricating nanometer scale features on semiconductor or metal substrates beyond the limitation of optical lithography. In this article AFM anodic oxidation lithography and its organic resist layers are introduced based on our previous works. Organic resist layers of self-assembled monolayers, Langmuir-Blodgett films and polymer films are suggested to play a key role in en¬hancing the aspect ratio of
