연구배경 오늘날 다양한 분야의 디자인이 저시력자와 같은 시각장애를 고려하고 있으나 현장성 부재와 기본기 결여라는 문제 때문에 실제 현장에서는 저시력자에게 많은 지적을 받고있다. 저시력자에 대한 근본적인 이해와 연구의 기초자료 부재라는 문제를 극복하고자 출발한 본 연구는 저시력자의 생활공간인지 특성에 대하여 분석하고 문제점 및 개선방안을 연구하여 보았다. 연구방법 기존에 검증된 학술자료를 통해 저시력자의 기본 특성을 이해해보고 실제 저시력자이자 저시력 인지 전문가를 섭외하여 저시력자의 생활공간에서 하루일과를 수차례에 걸쳐 동행취재 및 인터뷰함으로서 공간인지 현상과 원인 그리고 대안에 대해 심층적으로 연구하여 보았다. 연구 콘텐츠로는 저시력자의 주된 하루 일과- 외출준비, 도보, 전철타기, 약속장소 출입이라는 4가지의 생활공간에서 10가지 구체적인 공간인지에 대한 관찰, 문제점, 대안연구로 구성하였다. 연구결과 저시력자의 수월한 공간인지를 위해서는 ‘거리(distance)’, ‘조명(b
