Professor Hee Jin Jeong's research lab specializes in infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, and public health interventions, with a strong focus on bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, and influenza. The lab investigates antibiotic susceptibility patterns, the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions like social distancing on respiratory virus transmission, and the role of vaccination in military and community health. Their work integrates clinical microbiology with population-level surveillance to inform public health policy and improve infectious disease control.

Serosurveillance studies reveal the actual disease burden and herd immunity level in the population. In Seoul, Korea, a cross-sectional investigation showed 0.07% anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 antibody seropositivity among 1,500 outpatients of the university hospitals.
