Professor Hee-kyung Jeong's research lab focuses on chromatin remodeling and its critical role in gene regulation, development, and cancer progression. The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, particularly the functions of its core subunits such as SRG3 (BAF155) and BAF60a, in transcriptional regulation and tumor suppression. A key research direction involves understanding how these complexes interact with tumor suppressors like p53 and how their dysregulation contributes to tumorigenesis and metastasis. The lab also explores natural compounds, such as wogonin, as potential therapeutic agents targeting cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis.
