Professor Ho-Jin Jo's research lab specializes in biomedical image analysis, clinical pharmacology, and neurobiological modeling, with a strong focus on aging-related health challenges and mental health in clinical populations. The lab develops advanced computational methods for medical image processing—such as texture-aware filtering and scene text detection—while also conducting population-level health studies on polypharmacy and its outcomes in elderly populations. Additionally, the lab investigates the neurobiological underpinnings of neurodevelopmental disorders using animal models, particularly in understanding connectivity disruptions in autism spectrum disorder. These interdisciplinary efforts bridge computer vision, clinical data science, and neuroscience to improve health outcomes in aging and neurodiverse populations.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of empathy, resilience and self-care on compassion fatigue in oncology nurses. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey and questionnaires were collected from December 1 to 15, 2013. Participants were 171 oncology nurses caring for cancer patients.
