Professor Hong-Mi Choi's research lab focuses on cardiovascular disease mechanisms and advanced heart failure management, with a strong emphasis on cardiac imaging, biomarkers, and risk stratification in conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure with preserved or reduced ejection fraction. The lab integrates clinical cardiology with cutting-edge imaging techniques such as cardiac magnetic resonance and late gadolinium enhancement to predict disease progression and evaluate novel therapies. Additionally, the lab contributes to the development of advanced network survivability models in high-speed communication systems, particularly in the context of fault-tolerant network design and failure recovery protocols.

Network survivability is a crucial requirement in high-speed optical networks. Typical approaches of providing survivability have considered the failure of a single component such as a link or a node. We motivate the need for considering double-link failures and present three loopback methods for handling such failures. Takayasu's arteritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that mainly involves medium to large sized arteries. Although pulmonary artery involvement is reported with a prevalence of about 10% to 50%, its clinical significance is underestimated. We report here one case of Takayasu's arteritis complicated by severe pulmonary hypertension due to right main pulmonary artery total occlusion.
