Professor Hye Jung Cho's research lab focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques and improving patient outcomes in critical care settings. The lab investigates innovative applications of robotic surgery—particularly DaVinci® single-port platforms—to enhance surgical precision, reduce recovery time, and improve cosmetic results. Additionally, the lab explores infection prevention strategies in high-risk populations, such as neonates and pediatric patients, with a focus on central line-associated bloodstream infections and Clostridium difficile-associated disease. The integration of engineering solutions in medical devices, such as micromachined PCR chips for rapid diagnostics, further highlights the lab’s interdisciplinary approach to improving clinical care.

ABSTRACT: As one of the most challenging procedures in colorectal surgery, Hartmann reversal (HR) carries a burden of morbidity and mortality.
