Professor Hye Moon Jung's research lab specializes in cardiovascular imaging and genetics, focusing on the interplay between genetic mutations and cardiac structural remodeling in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The lab employs advanced cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and echocardiographic techniques to investigate myocardial fibrosis, left ventricular and left atrial function, and the prognostic implications of imaging biomarkers. A key research direction involves linking pathogenic sarcomere and mitochondrial gene mutations to cardiac phenotypes, particularly fibrosis and arrhythmia risk. The lab also explores hemodynamic and vascular parameters, such as carotid Doppler metrics and Lp-PLA₂ levels, as predictors of cerebro-cardiovascular events.
