研究室紹介

Professor Hye-Yeon Jeon's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with an emphasis on natural product-based therapeutics and their mechanisms in chronic diseases. The lab investigates bioactive compounds from traditional medicinal plants—such as ginseng and curcumin—exploring their effects on urological disorders, skin health, and vascular function. A key research direction involves understanding the molecular mechanisms of ginsenosides and curcumin in smooth muscle relaxation, epidermal barrier function, and endothelial health. The lab also addresses food safety by analyzing microbiological risks in restaurant-prepared foods, particularly under temperature abuse conditions.

Effects of Korean ginseng berry extract (GB0710) on penile erection: evidence from in vitro and in vivo studies

Several reports have promoted the root-derived Korean red ginseng (KRG; Panax ginseng) as alternative treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), and ginsenosides are known to be the principal active ingredients of ginseng. Recent studies showed that ginseng berries produce more ginsenosides than KRG; thus, we investigated the ability of the Korean ginseng berry extract GB0710 to relax the penile corpus cavernosum smooth muscle (CCSM) in this study. As a comparative control, the results were compar

The purpose of this study was to present management guidelines for critical control points by analyzing microbiological hazardous elements through screening Potentially Hazardous Foods(PHF) menus in an effort improve the microbiological quality of foods prepared by restaurant operations. Steamed spinach with seasoning left at room temperature presents a range of risk temperatures which microorganisms could flourish, and it exceeded all microbiological safety limits in our study. Beneficial Effect of Curcumin on Epidermal Permeability Barrier Function in Hairless Rat
HY Jeon, J.K. Kim, W.G. Kim
SJR Q4Korean Journal of Food Science and Technology

Recent research has shown that curcumin has beneficial effects in a variety of skin diseases, including scleroderma, psoriasis, and skin cancer. In this study, we assessed the effects of curcumin on epidermal permeability barrier function in vivo and in vitro. In order to evaluate the effects of curcumin on epidermal permeability barrier function in vivo, hairless rats were exposed to UVB irradiation, and curcumin was administered orally at a dosage of 150 mg/kg per day for 8 weeks. Relationship of Serum Homocysteine with Brachial-Ankle Pulse Wave Velocity in Middle Aged Women
Byoungjin Park, Hye-Yun Chun, Ah‐Reum Han, Ji-Ae Lim, Duk‐Chul Lee, Jae‐Yong Shim, Hye-Ree Lee
SJR Q2Korean Journal of Family MedicineOA

Background: Several studies showed the relationship between serum homocysteine and pulse wave velocity, but their subjects were confi ned to high risk group for cardiovascular diseases and recent study revealed no relationship in young healthy adults. We hypothesized that time interval would be needed for serum homocysteine to infl uence pulse wave velocity after exposure to vascular endothelium. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between serum homocysteine and pulse wav

SJR Q2Planta Medica

Curcumin is a low molecular polyphenol isolated from turmeric. Recent researches have revealed that curcumin has beneficial effect in various skin diseases such as scleroderma, psoriasis and skin cancer [1]. However, studies on an effect of curcumin on epidermal barrier function have been scarce.

Metastatic Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Presenting with Liver Metastasis
전혜연
Journal of Digestive Cancer Research

A 72-year-old female presented with weight loss and poor oral intake. Multiple hepatic massesand enlarged lymph nodes (LNs) observed on imaging raised the suspicion of metastatic disease. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy were unremarkable. Liver biopsy confirmedthe diagnosis of metastatic small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma, with immunohistochemistry(IHC) findings indicative of the primary tumor being from the lungs (CK [AE1/3]+,TTF-1+, INSM1+, CD45-, Vimentin-). Widespread metastases
