研究室紹介
Professor Hye-young Choi's research lab specializes in medical imaging and molecular mechanisms underlying breast diseases and osteoarthritis. The lab focuses on advancing diagnostic techniques in breast imaging—particularly ultrasound and Doppler sonography—while investigating molecular pathways involved in cartilage degradation and inflammation. Key research directions include improving the accuracy of breast lesion characterization using elastography and Doppler signals, and exploring protein interactions that may influence disease progression in osteoarthritis and breast pathology.

METHODS: The presence of TLRs in OA and non-OA articular cartilage was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. The regulation of TLR messenger RNA (mRNA) by interleukin-1 (IL-1) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha) was analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. For stimulation of TLR-2 and TLR-4, chondrocytes were treated with Staphylococcus aureu
PURPOSE: This study analyzed the color and power Doppler signals in solid breast masses and assessed their value in differentiating malignant from benign lesions. METHODS: One hundred twenty-nine biopsy-proven solid breast masses (54 malignant and 75 benign) were evaluated with color and/or power Doppler sonography using a 7-MHz linear-array transducer. We retrospectively analyzed the location, shape, and penetration of the Doppler vascular signals in the breast masses. The location of the vascu
Background Recent studies suggest that US-guided directional vacuum-assisted removal (DVAR) is a satisfactory alternative to surgery for benign papilloma of the breast and recommend discretionary diagnostic US follow-up without intervention. Purpose To compare the outcomes of benign papilloma without atypia diagnosed with core needle biopsy (CNB) in patients who underwent US-guided DVAR, US follow-up without intervention, or surgery. Materials and Methods This retrospective review included conse
Objective: We compared the diagnostic performance of B-mode ultrasound, shear wave elastography (SWE), and combined B-mode ultrasound and SWE in small breast lesions (≤ 2 cm), and evaluated the factors associated with false SWE results. Methods: A total of 428 small breast lesions (≤ 2 cm) of 415 consecutive patients between August 2013 and February 2017 were included. The diagnostic performance of each set was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) anal
Copine3, a known calcium-dependent membrane binding protein, contains two tandem C2 domains and an A domain. This protein has been shown to interact with receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ErbB2), but little is known concerning the physiological function of Copine3. To better understand its cellular function, we carried out a yeast two-hybrid screen to find Copine3 binding partners. Among the identified proteins, Jun activation domain-binding protein 1 (Jab1) appears to directly interact with Copine3.
RATIONALE: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) of the breast is a rare entity, with an estimated incidence of only 0.2% to 0.3% of all primary breast tumors. The radiological features of breast MEC have scarcely been investigated mainly because of its rarity. In this article, we present a case of breast MEC diagnosed at our hospital and review the literature, focusing on radiological findings and radiologic-pathologic correlations that could improve clinical management of this entity. To the best of
MRI-guided intervention for breast lesions using the freehand technique with a 3.0-T closed-bore MRI scanner is feasible and accurate for diagnosing MRI-only lesions.
CPNE1 may play a key role in the pathophysiology of HER2-positive and luminal A subtypes of breast cancer.
We generated a human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) line, KSCBi003-A, from adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Ad-MSCs) using a Sendai virus-based gene delivery system. We confirmed that the KSCBi003-A has a normal karyotype and short tandem repeat (STR)-based identities that match the parent cells. We also confirmed that the cell line expresses pluripotent stem cell markers such as Nanog, OCT4, SSEA-4, TRA-1-60, and TRA-1-81. We also analyzed that the KSCBi003-A has an ability
In this study, R2* values were significantly correlated with age and expression of p53. Further studies are necessary to determine the prognostic value of BOLD-MRI.
To evaluate the changes of intracranial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics in hydrocephalus, we studied the various parameters of cine phase contrast (PC) magnetic resonance (MR) CSF flow images in cases of acutely progressive hydrocephalus, comparing them with those in normal CSF circulation.
Drug resistance is a major cause of treatment failure in breast cancer, yet mutation-centered models do not fully explain delayed resistance, reversible tolerance, or re-sensitization after treatment interruption. Here, we synthesize recent findings in drug-tolerant persister (DTP) biology, clonal evolution, and tumor ecosystem dynamics to propose a breast cancer-focused Resistance Continuum as a conceptual framework for organizing the transition from initial therapy to stable resistance across
