Professor Hye Yun Jeong's research lab focuses on mitochondrial dynamics and cellular quality control in age-related and metabolic diseases, particularly in the context of chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, and diabetes. The lab investigates key regulators such as PINK1 and PGC1α in maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis, with an emphasis on their roles in autophagy, mitochondrial biogenesis, and inflammation pathways like cGAS-STING. Using integrated approaches combining in vitro models, animal studies, and multi-omics analyses, the lab explores therapeutic strategies targeting mitochondrial dysfunction for renal and metabolic disorders. The research also extends to the impact of lifestyle factors such as physical activity and micronutrients like vitamin D on disease progression and aging.

본 연구는 노인장기요양보험 지출과 시설급여를 통한 장기요양시설 서비스 이용에 대한 결정요인을 Anderson 행동모형에 근거하여 살펴본다. 건강보험공단 노인코호트DB의 2008-2015년 자료를 이용하여 노인장기요양보험 지출 결정요인을 살펴본 결과 장기요양보험 수급자들은 주수발자가 없거나 간병인이나 자원봉사자의 돌봄을 주로 받는 경우, 자녀와 함께 살지 않는 경우, 그리고 신체·인지·사회생활 기능이 떨어지고 나이가 많고 소득이 낮을수록 장기요양급여비 지출이 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 재가급여 서비스에 비해 상대적으로 비용이 큰 시설급여 서비스 이용에 대한 결정요인을 분석한 결과 노인이 가족의 주수발을 받지 않거나 가족과 함께 살지 않는 경우, 그리고 소득이 낮거나 신체기능이 떨어질수록 시설 서비스를 이용할 확률이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 장기요양보험의 이용, 특히 시설 서비스에 대한 이용이 단순히 신체적 기능 외에도 가족 및 사회적 지원에 많은 영향을 받음을 시사한다.
