研究室紹介

Professor Hyejoo Chung's research lab specializes in the development and characterization of advanced thin films and nanostructured materials for electronic and biomedical applications. The lab focuses on physical vapor deposition techniques—such as magnetron sputtering and ion-beam deposition—to fabricate high-quality ferroelectric, conductive, and functional thin films with controlled crystallographic orientation and microstructure. Research spans materials for microelectronics (e.g., SrBi2Ta2O9), laser mirror coatings (e.g., Cu films), and the structural analysis of rare diseases like chronic neutrophilic leukemia, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach combining materials science, physics, and biomedicine. The lab also contributes to fundamental materials characterization through crystallographic data and ion source development for precision deposition systems.

Structural and ferroelectric properties of the c-axis oriented SrBi2Ta2O9 thin films deposited by the radio-frequency magnetron sputtering
Tae Kwon Song, J.-K. Lee, H. J. Jung
SJR Q1Applied Physics Letters

Radio-frequency magnetron sputtering was used to deposit SrBi2Ta2O9 ferroelectric thin films on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si(001) substrates. Thin films were deposited at room temperature with argon pressures of 0.5–100 mTorr and with sputtering power of 2.5 W/cm2. The crystal orientations of thin films were strongly affected by the argon pressures, the c-axis oriented SrBi2Ta2O9 thin film was obtained with argon pressure of 30 mTorr. The crystal structures of the c-axis oriented SrBi2Ta2O9 thin film were

A combination of excimer laser treatment and topical tacrolimus is more effective in treating vitiligo than either therapy alone for the initial 6 months, but not thereafter

SJR Q2Clinical and Experimental Dermatology

A combination treatment with topical tacrolimus and an excimer laser may be useful as an induction therapy for up to 6 months, but continuation of this therapy for > 6 months might not provide a better final outcome than monotherapy.

Ewha Medical JournalOA

Chronic neutrophilic leukemia(CNL) is a very rare myeloproliferative disease, characterized by sustained mature neutrophilic leukocytosis with granulocytic bone marrow infiltration, high NAP(neutrophilic alkaline phosphatase) score and absence of philadelphia chromosome, It is frequently accompanied by hepatosplenomegaly, elevated serum vitamin B_12 and uric acid level. For the diagnosis of CNL, the leukemoid reaction, especially secondary to neoplasia, infection and autoimmune diseases, should

Characteristics of Cu thin films on a glass substrate by partially ionized beam deposition at room temperature
Youngdae Yoon, K. H. Kim, Ho G. Jang, H. J. Jung, S. K. Koh
SJR Q2Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A Vacuum Surfaces and Films

Partially ionized beam deposition of Cu thin films onto glass at room temperature was carried out to fabricate laser mirrors with good structural and reflective properties. At a constant film thickness of 600 Å, the grain size of as-grown Cu films increased with acceleration voltage. There was no indication of defects such as cracks and/or large pores in the film surface as shown in scanning electron microscopy images. Rms surface roughnesses of 600 Å thick films were measured by atomic force mi
