Professor Hyeon-in Park's research lab specializes in organizational psychology and work well-being, with a primary focus on the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory as a framework for understanding burnout, emotional labor, and job stress. The lab investigates how job control, emotional regulation strategies (such as surface and deep acting), mindfulness, and person-environment fit influence burnout outcomes—including emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced personal accomplishment—across diverse occupational contexts. Research also explores the role of financial literacy in shaping financial behavior and well-being, emphasizing the differential impacts of objective versus subjective financial knowledge. The lab employs meta-analytic and longitudinal methods to examine psychological resources and stressors in work settings, particularly in human service and corporate environments.

Job Control and Burnout: A Meta‐Analytic Test of the Conservation of Resources Model
Hyung In Park, Annalyn C. Jacob, Stephen H. Wagner, Mavis Baiden
SJR Q1Applied Psychology

This meta‐analytic study of 71 independent samples from 66 studies ( N = 48,528) examined the relationship between job control and burnout. Based on the C onservation of R esources model, job control was hypothesised to have a stronger relationship with depersonalisation and personal accomplishment than with emotional exhaustion. Overall, results supported the main hypothesis. Moderator analyses indicated that the relations tended to be different depending on job types, the national power distan

From Role Conflict to Job Burnout: A Mediation Model Moderated by Mindfulness
Hyung In Park, Suk Kyung Nam
SJR Q2The Career Development Quarterly

This study examined the moderated mediating effect of mindfulness as an emotional resource on the relationship between role conflict and burnout (i.e., exhaustion, cynicism, and professional inefficacy) via negative affect. Participants were 481 adult employees in South Korea who provided self‐report data 2 times with a 2‐week interval. The results indicated that mindfulness moderated the relationship between role conflict and negative affect such that the effect of role conflict on negative aff

Does the Attainment of Vocational Aspirations Make Youths Happy?
Hyung In Park, Seunghee Lee, Bora Lee
SJR Q1Journal of Career Assessment

The current study aims to investigate the developmental perspective on the relationships between person-vocation (P-V) fit and its criteria (extrinsic job satisfaction, workplace satisfaction, and happiness) using longitudinal data of 1041 youths in South Korea. THE KOREAN JOURNAL OF PSYCHOLOGY GENERAL

Psychological Reattachment to Work: Its Nomological Network and Role in the Relationship between Role Ambiguity and Work Engagement
Hyung In Park, Seung-Mi Lee, Yoo Na Kim
Journal of Social Science
