Professor Hyuk-Joon Kwon's research lab specializes in veterinary virology, bacteriology, and molecular virology, with a focus on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in poultry and livestock. The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis, host adaptation, and antimicrobial resistance in avian pathogens such as avian influenza viruses and avian pathogenic *Escherichia coli* (APEC). Key research directions include the development of live-attenuated vaccines through reverse genetics, characterization of virulence factors and resistance genes, and understanding the evolutionary dynamics of zoonotic pathogens. The lab also explores bacteriophages as potential alternatives to antibiotics in controlling drug-resistant Salmonella strains.

In this article, we describe the characteristics of 12 human colorectal-carcinoma cell lines established from 6 primary tumors and 6 metastatic sites of 11 Korean colorectal-carcinoma patients, including the morphology in vivo and in vitro and mutations of K-ras2, p15, p16, p53, APC, beta-catenin, hMLH1 and hMSH2 genes in vitro. An Anti-influenza Component of the Bark of Alnus japonica

This study to identify anti-influenza components of the bark of Alnus japonica resulted in the isolation of four lupane-type triterpenes (1-4) and one steroid (5). Their structures were characterized on the basis of physicochemical properties, NMR evidence, and ESI-MS data compared with reported data in the literature. Betulinic aldehyde (3) exhibited a particularly strong anti-influenza effect against KBNP-0028 relative to a positive control.

The nucleotide sequences of a region including S1, S2, 3a, 3b and E genes of twenty-seven infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) isolates in Korea between 1990-2011 were determined and phylogenetic and computational recombination analyses were conducted. Molecular Serotyping of Salmonella enterica by Complete rpoB Gene Sequencing

Serotyping has been the gold standard for identifying Salmonella, but it requires large amounts of standard antisera. In dieser Arbeit wird versucht, Sönke Wortmanns erfolgreichen Fußballfilm Das Wunder von Bern (2003) aus der Perspektive der kollektiven Identität zu analysieren. In dem Film wird die Geschichte von Deutschlands unerwartetem Sieg bei der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 1954 in Bern erzählt. Das als ‘Wunder von Bern’ genannte Ereignis wird oft als ‘echte Geburtsstunde’ Deutschlands gewertet,weil die Deutschen durch diesen Sieg zum ersten Mal nach dem Krieg wieder zu großem Selbstbewusstsein gelangten.

Bovine mastitis is an important microbial disease in the dairy industry. We investigated the frequencies of bacterial pathogens in 62 farms and pathogen antibiotic resistance from mastitis samples (n = 748). We tested the antimicrobial activity of chicken and duck egg white and lysozyme purified from chicken egg white.
