Professor Hyun Pyo Hong's research lab specializes in the development of advanced functional materials and biomedical devices, with a strong focus on nanomaterial-based sensors and interventional radiology techniques. The lab pioneers the application of plasma-activated carbon nanotubes in high-performance capacitive humidity sensors, emphasizing rapid response and enhanced sensitivity through nanostructured electrode design. In parallel, the lab conducts clinically oriented interventional radiology research, particularly in image-guided ablation and embolization procedures for cancer-related complications such as intractable hemorrhage and lung tumors. We report on the preparation of capacitive-type relative humidity sensors incorporating plasma-activated multi-wall carbon nanotube (p-MWCNT) electrodes and on their performance compared with existing commercial technology. Highly open porous conductive electrodes, which are almost impossible to obtain with conventional metal electrodes, are fabricated by spray-depositing MWCNT networks on a polyimide layer. A highly fast capacitive-type humidity sensor using percolating carbon nanotube films as a porous electrode material

Open porous multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) film networks were used as an upper electrode of polyimide (PI)-based capacitive humidity sensor for highly fast response time. Laparoscopic RFA can access lesions for which percutaneous RFA is contraindicated or risky. Cluster electrodes can create sufficient ablation zones without contact and can achieve a sufficient margin with a low complication rate and no tumor dissemination. Therefore, laparoscopic RFA with a no-touch technique might be a safe and feasible treatment for HCC tumor in selected patients.
