研究室紹介
Professor Hyun-young Sung's research lab specializes in clinical anesthesiology and head and neck surgery, focusing on optimizing perioperative hemodynamic stability and improving antimicrobial strategies in medical devices. The lab investigates pharmacological agents like dexmedetomidine and remifentanil to mitigate acute cardiovascular responses during endoscopic sinus surgery, while also exploring the durability and efficacy of antimicrobial-coated central venous catheters under varying hemodynamic conditions. Their work bridges anesthesiology, surgical outcomes, and biomaterials, with a strong emphasis on translational research to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.

3Background For patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery, intranasal injection of epinephrine can cause acute increases in heart rate and blood pressure. Objective Among the drugs for reducing hyperdynamic effects, dexmedetomidine and remifentanil are expected to blunt the acute hemodynamic responses after intranasal injection of epinephrine. Our study compared a difference in the 2 drugs in their abilities to blunt the hemodynamic responses in intraoperative period and postoperative profile.
BACKGROUND: Chlorhexidine and silver sulfadiazine coated central venous catheters (CSS-CVC) may cause loss of antimicrobial efficacy due to friction between the CVC surface and sheer stress caused by the blood flow. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the antibacterial efficacy of CSS-CVC at various flow rates using a bloodstream model. METHODS: Each CVC was subjected to various flow rates (0.5, 1, 2, and 4 L/min) and wear-out times (0, 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours), and the opt
Background and Objectives: Lymph node metastases has a high prognostic value in patients with parotid gland carcinoma. However, a consensus regarding the indication of elective neck dissection (END) has not been reached. Most authors have advocated performing a neck dissection based on the histology of the primary parotid carcinoma and the tumor grade. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was undertaken targeting 16 patients who were previously treated for primary carcinoma of the par
