Professor Hyung-sin Yoon's research lab focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying addiction and mood disorders, with a particular emphasis on the role of neuropeptides and signaling molecules in the nucleus accumbens. The lab investigates how peptides such as CART and ghrelin receptor subtypes modulate behaviors related to drug sensitization, conditioned responses, and emotional regulation. Using behavioral pharmacology, microinjection techniques, and immunohistochemistry, the lab explores intracellular signaling pathways like ERK activation in the context of psychostimulant exposure and depression. The role of the biologically active CART 55-102 peptide in the nucleus accumbens (NAcc) in the expression of cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization was investigated.
