研究室紹介
Professor In-Ha Jung's research lab focuses on the intersection of urban planning, architectural modernization, and socialist urbanism, particularly in East Asia during the 20th century. The lab explores historical urban development in Korea and North Korea, emphasizing the influence of colonial and socialist planning ideologies, including Japanese colonial town planning and the Soviet-inspired microdistrict model. Research also examines architectural responses to industrialization, modernization, and post-war reconstruction, with a focus on housing design, urban morphology, and the socio-political dimensions of built environments.

15An 81-year-old woman was admitted with epigastric pain and weight loss. She had been diagnosed with an intraductal papillary mucosal tumor (IPMT) 7 years previously, but had refused surgery for religious reasons. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a nodular, elevated lesion that was discharging mucin into the duodenal bulb and posterior wall of the upper body of the stomach. In the 1950s, the Soviet Union and other communist countries developed a unique method for allowing socialist ideology to manifest in urban spaces. The theory of the microdistrict was invented to establish self-contained urban units that included both housing and public amenities and resulted in a tremendous change in the planning of communist cities. Because microdistricts satisfied the communities’ social requirements and facilitated mass-produced urban housing, the North Korean regime enthusi
Although modernization in Korea started more than a century later than in the West, it has worked as a prominent ideology throughout the past century-in particular it has brought radical changes in Korean architecture and cities. This book presents a comprehensive overview of architectural development and urbanization in Korea within the broad framework of modernization.Twentieth

Abstract The cladding materials remaining after the reprocessing of nuclear fuel, generally called hulls, are classified as high‐level radioactive waste. They are usually packaged in a container for disposal after being compacted, melted, or solidified into a heterogeneous matrix. Efforts to fabricate a better waste form from an environmental perspective have failed due to the technical difficulties encountered in the chemical decontamination of cladding hulls. In the early 1990's, the accumulat
This article examines the mechanisms and principles of North Korea's urban housing designs that appeared following the Korean War (1950–1953). Early in the reconstruction period, the new-born socialist nation imported housing models from the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc. However, as urbanisation proceeded rapidly, as a result of policies aimed at developing heavy industry, North Korean architects faced two challenges: first, they had to develop their own standard models in the light of thei
The purpose of this study was to analyze the plot subdivision patterns in Gangnam area. Since Gangnam area has been formed with the overlap of diverse urban planners’ initiatives and administrators’ interventions rather than a pre-determined master plan, it has totally different unbanity compared to other Korea’s new towns. Unlike other new towns characterized by their monotonous and uniform structure, Gangnam is featured with diversity and complexity which can be often discovered in spontaneous

After a digital modelling method has been introduced into architectural design in 1990s, a radical change was taken place in generating architectural form and space. Many architects have a view that digital modelling method is the most Important invention in the visual presentation since the moment that architect Philippo Brunelleschi experimented initially the linear perspective. Therefore, in this study, comparing between perspectiva artificialis and digital modelling method, we clarify 1) the
