Professor Jae-Hee Lee's research lab focuses on social innovation and organizational networks, particularly examining the role of social enterprises in societal problem-solving through network analysis and social capital. The lab investigates how structural and relational network activities influence economic and social outcomes in social enterprises, with a comparative focus on manufacturing and service sectors. Additionally, the lab explores health-related behavioral and physiological research, including noise perception, immune responses to fermented foods, and substance use screening tools.

Effect of noise on the detection of rib fractures depends on an individual's attitude toward sound and noise.
Various functional activities have been reported for the fermented soybean products doenjang (DJ) and cheonggukjang (CGJ), although no systemic investigations of their immune functions have been conducted to date. We examined the effects of an experimental diet of DJ, CGJ, or a mixture of unfermented raw material for 4 weeks on overall immunity and immune safety in mice. No significant alterations were observed in peripheral or splenic immune cells among groups. Enhanced splenic na
OBJECTIVE: Several abbreviated versions of the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test (AUDIT) have been developed and are widely used in clinical settings. In this study, we provide evidence supporting the use of abbreviated versions of AUDIT by comparing the utility of various abbreviated versions and determining cut-off values for the population of South Korea. METHODS: Data were obtained from the 4th to 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. After calculating the whol
The participants in the present study had to make speeded elevation discrimination responses to visual targets presented to the left or right of central fixation following the presentation of a task-irrelevant auditory cue on either the same or opposite side. In Experiment 1, the cues were presented from in front of the participants (from the same azimuthal positions as the visual targets). A standard crossmodal exogenous spatial cuing effect was observed, with participants responding significan
Plasma N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) level is primarily used as a biomarker for left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. It is influenced by various conditions, such as myocardial strain and situations affecting the clearance of NT-proBNP, including sepsis and shock. In this study, we investigated the appropriateness of NT-proBNP as a prognostic factor for septic shock. Patients with septic shock who visited the emergency department of the Ewha Womans' University Mokdo
BACKGROUND: Serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) could be used as a predictive marker of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) who are managed with targeted temperature management (TTM). However, the NGAL measurement timepoints vary from immediately after ROSC to several days later. The primary objective of this study was to determine an association between AKI and NGAL, both immediately
This study is the first research about the cut-off points of Korean version of AUDIT-C for patients including women and elders to screen for at-risk drinking in South Korea. AUDIT-C is a useful and accurate tool to screen patients for at-risk drinking.
Several abbreviated versions of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) have been developed for use in high-volume clinical situations such as emergency departments. In this study, we developed a new abbreviated version of AUDIT called the Screening Tool for At-risk Drinking (STAD) for young and middle-aged adults, consisting of two questions that reflect the structure of the AUDIT questionnaire using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). In patients with back or scapular pain, if there is evidence of neurological symptoms, fever, chills, malaise, or other signs of infection, the work-up should consider the possibility of a spinal-esophageal fistula.
Background. Synthetic cannabinoids are recreational street drugs with many known adverse effects.Case presentation. Here we present the case of an atypical cerebral infarction in a patient with a suspected ingestion of syn-thetic cannabinoids.Conclusion. Although synthetic cannabi-noids use is not conventionally associated with stroke, some case reports describe cerebral infarction and myocardial in-farction with significant synthetic can-nabinoids intake. Emergency physicians should know the as
BACKGROUND: Alcohol is an important factor that contributes to emergency department (ED) visits due to injury. However, the role of alcohol in elderly patients visiting ED due to injury has not been clearly defined. This study aims to examine age and alcohol as risk factors of injury severity and clinical outcomes. METHODS: This study included patients who visited EDs between January 2011 and December 2016. Data was obtained from the Emergency Department-Based Injury In-depth Surveillance of the
