Professor Jae-Hyun Koo's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on identifying and validating clinical biomarkers for urological cancers, particularly bladder and upper urinary tract urothelial carcinomas. The lab investigates prognostic factors such as lymph node density, serum albumin levels, and systemic inflammatory response markers to improve patient risk stratification and clinical outcomes. Utilizing clinical data, meta-analyses, and molecular techniques—including phage display libraries—research spans from basic protein engineering to clinical application in oncology and rehabilitation medicine.

15AIMS: Voiding diary duration may be related to patient compliance and burden. To test this hypothesis, we evaluated patient compliance and burden. The data from this meta-analysis indicate that LN density is an independent predictor of clinical outcome in LN-positive patients. LN density may be useful in future staging systems, thus allowing better prognostic classification of LN-positive bladder cancer.
In an effort to determine whether proteins with structures other than the immunoglobulin fold can be used to mimic the ligand binding properties of antibodies, we generated a library from the four-helix bundle protein cytochrome b562 in which the two loops were randomized.
