Professor Jae Seok Lee's research lab specializes in biomedical imaging, molecular diagnostics, and advanced materials synthesis. The lab investigates prostate volume estimation using medical imaging techniques like MRI and TRUS, explores the photophysical properties of modified porphyrins for potential therapeutic applications, and examines diagnostic biomarkers such as ALK expression in rhabdomyosarcoma. Additionally, the lab develops functional nanomaterials, including cerium-doped nanophosphors, for luminescent and optoelectronic applications.

15INTRODUCTION: There are relatively few studies that compare the use of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to estimate the prostate volume. In this study, we compared the prostate volumes measured with MRI and TRUS with a surgical specimen volume. BACKGROUND: We investigated the diagnostic and prognostic usefulness of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) expression in Asian rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) patients. Cerium-doped nanophosphor particles were synthesized using flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) from urea-added nitrate liquid precursor with different molar ratios of yttrium to aluminum. The effect of urea and Y:Al molar ratio in the liquid precursor on the crystallinity and luminescence properties of nanophosphors was studied. Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ nanophosphors were synthesized by flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) from different liquid precursors. Luminescence and crystalline properties were investigated as different Zn-source materials in aqueous precursor.
