Professor Jae-Suk Yang's research lab specializes in social psychology and health disparities, with a focus on how personal values, immigration status, and socio-demographic factors influence subjective well-being and mental health, particularly during global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The lab employs large-scale survey data and advanced multilevel modeling to explore cross-cultural and cross-national differences in health perceptions and psychological resilience. Current research emphasizes the role of value systems—especially openness to change and conservation values—in shaping health outcomes among vulnerable populations, including immigrants and marginalized groups. The lab also investigates the intersection of identity, migration, and well-being in diverse societal contexts.
