研究室紹介
Professor Jae-Sung Kwon's research lab focuses on political economy, development studies, and governance in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on foreign direct investment, conditional cash transfer programs, and systemic corruption. The lab investigates the interplay between multinational corporations, state institutions, and civil society, especially in the context of democratic transitions and institutional reform. Key research directions include the impacts of FDI on industrial development, the effectiveness of social protection programs like Bolsa Família, and the structural causes of political corruption—particularly in the context of infrastructure-driven patronage networks.

This chapter discusses two cases of the Republic of Korea’s foreign direct investment in Latin America and their sourcing structures. These are Hyundai Motor Company’s investment in Brazil and three Korean investments in the Guatemalan textiles and apparel sector.
