研究室紹介
Professor Jae-Weon Kim's research lab focuses on identifying molecular and epigenetic mechanisms underlying cancer, metabolic disorders, and neuropsychiatric conditions. The lab specializes in integrating multi-omics approaches—such as proteomics, epigenetics, and machine learning—with clinical and neuroimaging data to discover biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Key research directions include the role of adipokines in tumor microenvironments, DNA methylation in cervical and endometrial cancers, and predictive modeling of treatment response in ADHD and depression. The lab also investigates the biological links between chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and mental health disorders.

15Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignancy worldwide and is a leading cause of death. To contribute to the development and improvement of molecular markers for diagnostics and prognostics and of therapeutic targets for the disease, we have largely expanded the currently available human liver tissue maps and studied the differential expression of proteins in normal and cancer tissues. Reference two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) maps of human liver tumor tissue include labeled 2-DE
The incidence of cervical adenocarcinoma (CA) is rising, whereas the incidence of cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) continues to decrease. However, it is still unclear whether different molecular characteristics underlie these 2 types of cervical carcinoma. To better understand the epigenetic characteristics of cervical carcinoma, we investigated the DNA promoter hypermethylation profiles in CA and CSCC. In addition, we investigated whether DNA hypermethylation patterns might be used for t
BACKGROUND: There are no objective, biological markers that can robustly predict methylphenidate response in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This study aimed to examine whether applying machine learning approaches to pretreatment demographic, clinical questionnaire, environmental, neuropsychological, neuroimaging, and genetic information can predict therapeutic response following methylphenidate administration. METHODS: The present study included 83 attention deficit hyperactivity diso
Obesity is a well-established risk factor for various malignancies and emerging evidence suggests that adipokines play a pivotal role in linking excess adiposity to tumorigenesis. Adipokines are bioactive molecules secreted by adipose tissue and their altered expression in obesity contributes to a pro-inflammatory, pro-angiogenic, and growth-promoting microenvironment conducive to tumorigenesis. Leptin, a key adipokine, activates survival and proliferative signaling pathways whereas adiponectin
