Professor Jae Won Beom's research lab focuses on musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis, spinal disorders, and post-stroke recovery. The lab investigates cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying joint degeneration—particularly mitochondrial dynamics and oxidative stress in osteoarthritis—while also developing innovative neuromuscular stimulation and robotic-assisted therapies for functional restoration. Key research directions include the role of mitophagy and NADPH oxidase in cartilage degradation, trunk muscle strength in low back pain, and advanced rehabilitation technologies such as mirror therapy robots and electrical stimulation for dysphagia and motor recovery.
