Professor Jae-Wook Myung's research lab specializes in sustainable biotechnology and environmental biotechnology, focusing on microbial synthesis of biodegradable polymers such as polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) using methanotrophic bacteria. The lab explores innovative applications of these microbes in converting methane into high-value bioplastics and in nitrogen removal processes, including the recovery of energy from nitrous oxide.
