Professor Jae Young Yeon's research lab specializes in cerebrovascular diseases, with a primary focus on moyamoya disease (MMD) and intracranial arterial stenosis (ICAS), particularly in East Asian populations. The lab investigates genetic susceptibility, especially the role of RNF213 variants, and aims to clarify the clinical and radiological characteristics of asymptomatic and unilateral MMD presentations. Using advanced neuroimaging techniques such as MR angiography and perfusion-weighted imaging, the lab explores hemodynamic mechanisms, infarct patterns, and collateral circulation in stroke patients with MMD. The research also contributes to the development of clinical practice guidelines for optimal management of subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebrovascular disorders.
