Professor Jaegon Lee's research lab focuses on the intricate interplay between the gut microbiota, host immune responses, and gastrointestinal diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC). The lab investigates how microbial metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) modulate intestinal inflammation and immune cell differentiation, while also exploring pathogenic bacteria like adherent-invasive *E. coli* (AIEC) in IBD pathogenesis. Using preclinical murine models and high-throughput sequencing, the lab examines the impact of antibiotic-mediated microbial manipulation on disease progression and tumorigenesis, with translational insights into clinical sedation strategies in endoscopic procedures. The research integrates microbiology, immunology, and clinical gastroenterology to identify novel therapeutic targets for chronic gut disorders.
