Professor Jee Young Choi's research lab focuses on translational biomedical and health sciences, with a strong emphasis on understanding and improving health outcomes in chronic diseases. The lab investigates the biological mechanisms underlying metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes, exploring the therapeutic potential of natural compounds like green tea and Artemisia princeps extracts. Additionally, the lab examines psychosocial and behavioral factors—particularly intrinsic motivation—in mental health conditions like schizophrenia, aiming to enhance treatment adherence and functional recovery. The lab also engages in environmental health research, applying quantitative ecological models to assess the long-term impacts of human infrastructure on wildlife habitats, such as those of the water deer.
