Professor Jeeun Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, hematological malignancies, and metabolic disorders. The lab investigates the pathogenesis and clinical management of conditions such as *Clostridium difficile* infection, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and obesity-related type 2 diabetes, with a particular interest in biomarkers, disease severity assessment, and personalized therapeutic strategies. The lab also explores innovative digital methodologies in fashion design for inclusivity, reflecting a unique interdisciplinary approach to health and human-centered design. Recent work highlights the importance of early detection in hepatocellular carcinoma and the role of chronic inflammation in metabolic disease.

15The incidence of AB in 2012 was 2.3% (number of AB patients per 100 positive blood culture patients) and the mortality rate in patients with clinically significant AB was 21.4%. In addition, AB was frequently noted in patients having malignancy and the survival rate of AB was significantly worse in patients who received inappropriate therapy compared with those underwent appropriate therapy.
Our data show that surveillance ≤ 6 months might be associated with early detection of HCC and improved survival in a hepatitis B endemic area.
Clostridium difficile is a significant nosocomial and community-acquired pathogen, and is the leading cause of antibiotic-induced diarrhea associated with high morbidity and mortality. Given that the treatment outcome depends on the severity of C. difficile infection (CDI), we aimed to establish an efficient method of assessing severity, and focused on the stool biomarker fecal calprotectin (FC). FC directly reflects the intestinal inflammation status of a patient, and can aid in interpreting th
The prevalence of obesity has increased alarmingly both worldwide and in Korea. This has also dramatically increased the prevalence of chronic obesity-associated diseases, including type 2 diabetes (T2D). Extensive studies on the molecular etiology of T2D have revealed several potential mechanisms by which obesity induces the development of insulin resistance and T2D. One of these is low-grade chronic inflammation. Studies hinting at the existence of this phenomenon were first published about 30
The objective of this study was to develop an inclusive fashion design (IFD) process using digital tools for educational purposes. The study consisted of three stages: development of IFD process prototypes 1 and 2 with different phases for incorporating diverse users’ information (before and after the ideation phase), conducting an experiment on ten undergraduate students using two types of IFD process prototypes, and analysing the IFD process prototypes through protocol analysis, statistical an
Dear Editor, In ALL, cytogenetic subgroups according to recurrent genetic abnormalities are used to classify patients for risk stratification and to introduce them to the proper therapeutic strategies—such as the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in the case of t(9;22)(q34;q11.2)/BCR-ABL1 fusion [1]. Therefore, the identification of genetic aberrations is clinically significant and crucial in understanding the leukemogenesis mechanisms. t(12;17)(p13;q11.2)/TAF15-ZNF384 rearrangement is a r

Chromium (III) oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have a wide range of industrial applications, particularly in the production of lithium-ion batteries; however, the toxicity of these NPs has not been studied extensively. The phytotoxicity and genotoxicity of chromium (III) oxide NPs have not been assessed, and only one study reported their cytotoxicity, underscoring the need to perform comprehensive toxicity studies on these NPs. Here, we showed that chromium (III) oxide NPs had no effect on germination
BACKGROUND: The germline mutations of DDX41, also known as DEAD box RNA helicase 41, have been found in about 1.5% of myeloid neoplasms (MNs). Development of MDS/AML is relatively common in germline DDX41 mutations. However, a variety of hematological malignancies (HMs) have been reported. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a novel case of bi-alleleic DDX41 mutations in B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), with unusual location of DDX41 mutations. The gene expression profile (GEP) of Ph + B-ALL with
The majority of family physicians participating in this study were not in favor of the revised telehealth legislation. However, the majority of the participants had an intention to adopt telehealth to their practice and held clear opinion about practical aspects of telehealth.
Abstract This study aimed to address the diversity issue in fashion design education by developing two prototypes for Inclusive Fashion Design (IFD) education. The prototypes were constructed based on the 3C3R model of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and incorporated the Persona/Scenario (P/S) toolkit for IFD. Additionally, the study examined the effectiveness of the FEA (Function, Expressive, and Aesthetics) self-checklist and the P/S toolkit in the IFD process. The experiments involved two design
